Six New Releases to Advance Game Development

Over the past two weeks, NVIDIA has released software to enable game development teams of all sizes. Below is a list of the releases, and how you can get started today.

NVIDIA Reflex SDK

Available to apply for early access, the NVIDIA Reflex SDK allows game developers to implement a low latency mode that aligns game engine work to complete just-in-time for rendering, eliminating the GPU render queue and reducing CPU back pressure in GPU-bound scenarios.

Nsight Tools

To help developers achieve GPU peak performance, NVIDIA has released Nsight Tools Suite for Ampere. This includes updates to:

  • Nsight Systems
  • Nsight Compute
  • Nsight Graphics
  • Nsight Visual Studio Edition

Nsight Graphics now provides a new Shader Profiler for Vulkan (in addition to D3D12 and DirectX Ray Tracing) which can help developers make games running on Ampere GPUs even faster.

Feature Map Explorer (FME) 2020.2

FME enables visualization of 4-dimensional image-based feature map data using a range of views, from low-level channel visualizations to detailed numerical information about each channel slice.

2020.2 Updates:

  • Users can now highlight any individual channel for a layer, with a box drawn around the boundary of the channel. This allows users to track the same channel across different tensors.
  • When an individual channel is highlighted, its stats info will now also be automatically selected in the statistics window for easy correlation.
  • Selecting a tensor in the workspace panel now requires a single click instead of a double click.

NVIDIA RTX Unreal Engine 4 Branch

NVIDIA has made it easy for game developers to add leading-edge technologies to their Unreal Engine 4 (UE4) games by providing custom UE4 branches for NVIDIA technologies on GitHub.

Having custom UE4 branches on GitHub shortens the development cycle, and helps make games look more stunning. With these custom branches, developers can integrate NVIDIA technologies into UE4 games and deliver improvements within an hour. This month’s updates include:

  • DLSS SDK update
  • CPU side performance optimizations
